Tufting Course for Beginners & Kids

This beginner-friendly rug tufting course is your chance to turn leftover wool into something both beautiful and meaningful. Whether it's a cozy rug for your home or a unique design object, you'll learn the entire process—from sketch to finished piece.

This workshop is more than just technique—it's also about intention. You'll be invited to create visual mantras: personal symbols or messages you want to carry with you, transformed into graphic, tactile forms you can hang, touch, and reconnect with every day.

We'll walk you through using a tufting gun, setting up your frame, transferring your design, gluing your rug, and securing the backing for a clean and lasting result. By the end of the session, you’ll have your own handcrafted tufted piece—approximately 40 cm in diameter.

No experience needed—just bring your creativity (and your yarn scraps if you have them!). Tufting is a fun, hands-on way to reduce waste and make something meaningful with your own hands.

Led by Thea Kuta and hosted at Dynamo, a vibrant youth center in Zurich, this course also gives you a practical skill to build on. Once you've completed the workshop, you're welcome to return and use the tufting space and materials during Dynamo’s regular opening hours.
